State legal service, RKM give 3000 PPEs to hospitals

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MLSA) and Ramakrishna Mission (RKM), Sohra felt the need that doctors, medical staff and police personnel need to be equipped with protective gears so that they can discharge their duty effectively.
The MSLSA and the RKM has distributed more than 3000 PPEs, gloves, masks to various hospitals and CHCs especially those falling under the red zone.
The move of Ramkrishna Mission gains significance as it comes at a time when the state’s Health Minister revealed that many CHCs especially in Sohra Civil Sub-Division have as little as 15 PPEs and are poorly equipped.
Secretary of RKM, Sohra, Swami, Anuragananda handed over the safety gears to Legal Service Authorities at the High Court of Meghalaya who along with Ramkrishna volunteers distributed it to the hospitals.
The Swami further assured that they will also provide Sohra PHC and others with PPEs immediately.
The distribution was initiated by the Executive Chairman of MSLSA, H.S. Thangkhiew, member secretary of MSLSA, Noor Ain Khan and secretary of RKM, Sohra, Swami Arunaganando.
The MSLSA expressed gratitude to the RKM, Sohra, project coordinator, Access to Justice Project, Meghalaya, Albert Sngi Lyngdoh, Department of Law and Justice, Government of India, and volunteers of RKM in extending relief work to the needy.
The MSLSA has appealed citizens, para legal volunteers and panel lawyers to contribute in every way in the fight against COVID-19.
