‘HSPDP still a part of MUA coalition’

 NONGSTOIN: An emergency meeting was held at the Office of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council on Tuesday in relation to the recent press release that the HSPDP had withdrawn its support from the MUA Government and the KHADC.

In the meeting HSPDP West Khasi Hills president KP Pangniang clarified that the party had not taken the decision as yet, while adding that being the MDC of the area, he would definitely be informed of any such major decision that the party may take.

Pangniang refuted the report and said that even HSPDP supremo Hopingstone Lyngdoh was yet to decide on withdrawal of support.

He said that the HSPDP was very much part of the MUA Government and there was no intention of withdrawing support from the coalition. He also expressed his party’s continued faith in the MUA Government.

On the boundary dispute, he said that the HSPDP did not want to politicise the issue and stated that it was necessary for all parties of the State to unite and strive for the greater interest of the State.

He added that the West Khasi Hills District Council’s Fact Finding Committee under his Chairmanship convened a meeting on Tuesday and decided to collect all relevant documents related to Langpih that would established the fact that Langpih belongs to Meghalaya.

Pangniang also informed that an all party meeting has been called by Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on July 24 at Shillong to discuss the issue.
