Curfew extended in SWKH till May 3

MAWKYRWAT: The Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills on Monday extended curfew in the district with immediate effect and until midnight of May 3.
The order issued by the DC, Isawanda Laloo, however, will not be applicable to security forces, medical teams on COVID-19 duty, government officials on duty, police and armed forces, fire and emergency services, MeECL and Power Grid, Food and Civil Supplies Department, FCI, telecom, communication and IT services, print and electronic media, banks and ATMs, petrol pumps, medical officers and staff of health department, officers and staff of other departments of government working on COVID-19 duty and home delivery of household items. Movement of vehicles carrying essential commodities along national highway, security forces and medical equipment are also exempted, the DC said, adding that the drivers and attendants of vehicles shall be subject to medical screening, compulsory disinfection and other health advisories as per laid down protocols. The DC also said that certain relaxation in compliance to the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Political Department has also been granted.
