World Population fortnight celebrated at Jowai

 JOWAI: Along with the rest of the world, the World Population Stabilisation Fortnight was celebrated in Jowai at the Jowai Civil Hospital Campus on Wednesday.

The celebration was organised by the office of the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO).

This year the celebration started from July 11 and will conclude on July 24. The celebration has been based on the theme, “A Small Family is a Happy Family”

The Dolloi Jowai Elaka, KC Rymbai graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and while addressing the gathering, he said, “Since we can’t increase the size of the earth, therefore, we need to control the growth of population so that the benefit of development reaches everyones”.

The DM&HO, Dr. E Chyn in her introductory speech informed that the aim and objective of this fortnight is to generate awareness among the masses with regards to family planning and stabilization of population.

Others who spoke on the occasion were the Additional Deputy Commissioner, B. Mawlong, Medical Officer, Dr. L Challam and Dr. JV Shullai and matron, C. Lamin.

The programmed was chaired by Jowai Civil Hospital Superintendent, Dr. P Syngkon.
