Kendrapada: A Haviladar of Assam Rifle regiment was arrested on Wednesday.
He was charged with raping a 32-year old married woman and mother of two children at Iswarpur on last Monday.
Marshaghai police station Inspector in Charge Mrutyunjaya Swain said the jawan has been identified as Rajkishore Palei.
Swain said the woman of Iswarpur village under Rajnagar police limit on Wednesday had alleged that the jawan came to her house in search of her spouse and finding her alone in the house, he raped here.
Acting on the FIR, police conducted raid and managed to arrest the jawan.
Both the accused and the rape victim were later sent for medical examination.
Swain said the arrested jawan will be produced before the JMFC court at Patamundai on Thursday. (UNI)
