Lawsohtun, SOS family distribute essential items

Shillong: The Dorbar Shnong Lawsohtun, in its fight against COVID-19 pandemic, recently managed to distribute essential commodities to around 700 families from the locality.
The dorbar shnong distributed grocery items to the daily wage and under privileged families in two consecutive phases recently.
The distributed items include rice, potato, edible oil, onion and salt. Besides the fund from the Lawsohtun Dorbar, the commodities were also contributed by local MDC Mitchel Wankhar, MLA Hamlet Dohling, Synjuk Ki Nongsynshar Shnong Bri Hyniewtrep, Lawsohtun Presbyterian Church, Lawsohtun Catholic Church, Unitarian Church, other organisations and individuals, R J Nongrum, publicity secretary said in the statement.
Meanwhile, SOS Children’s Village under its community development programme of Family Strengthening, on Thursday distributed grocery items to around 171 families from Mynsain, Pynthor, Sohriewblei, Umktieh Mawkhim and Mawbsein Diengsohmaud under Bhoirymbong Block.
Each family received 10 kg rice, 5 kg dal, 3 kg sugar, 5 litres of mustard oil, ½ kg tea packet ,5 kg potato, turmeric and hygiene kits including four masks, four soaps, sanitisers and towels.
They have also asked the families to follow all possible guidelines of the department of health and family welfare, by maintaining social distancing. The SOS family thanked the local MLA George Lyngdoh and the district administration for rendering all support.
