JYF demand eviction of ‘illegal settlers’

 JOWAI: The Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) met the Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner, Peter S Dkhar on Friday demanding the immediate eviction of a group of people belonging to the Nepali community at Umla-tkhar in Mookhep village.

“The group came to stay in the area illegally and should be evicted”, the JYF stated in its memorandum to the Jaintia hills DC .

“The illegal settlement of the community in the area has posed a threat to the society”, the statement added.

Three weeks deadline was given to the DC for the eviction failing which, the JYF will issue a ‘quit-notice’ to all the families residing in the area.
