SHILLONG: In view of the lockdown, a social activist, Michael Kharsyntiew, teamed up with Ryntih Sports Club and Seng Samla Shnong Mawlai Mawdatbaki to distribute ration to well-known football players and their family members as a mark of motivation and inspiration. Some of the beneficiaries included star players from Langsning FC, Royal Wahingdoh and Lajong Sports Club, who have represented the state and also played in the I-League.
The distribution was extended to players from far areas of Shillong and the outskirts as well. It was delivered and identified by the team coaches and president of the Seng Samla, Wallam Kharpran and his team.
“Our motive was to encourage them to not lose interest in the sport. Many have no option presently but to look for other source of income in order to support their families,” he said.
