Shillong: One Raymond Pariat (37) of Lachumiere succumbed to his injuries after being assaulted at Dhankheti here on Saturday afternoon.
Police informed that Pariat was admitted to Shillong Civil Hospital at around 1.15pm in serious condition.
“Pariat was assaulted at Dhankheti and struggled to run collapsing at Barik point where police found him and took him to the hospital”, sources said.
Police have registered a murder case and detained one John William Rynjah (28) of Dhanketi who is the deceased’s friend.
Police said that Rynjah was detained after his name was spelled out by Pariat at the hospital. “We are still investigating the matter to trace the others involved in the assault”, police said.
