Major reshuffle in police dept

 SHILLONG: The Mukul Sangma-led MUA government has effected a major reshuffle in the police establishment of the State.

According to an official notification issued here on Tuesday, the SP (City) M Kharkrang will take over as the new East Khasi Hills SP. He will be replaced by Deputy Commandant 3rd Battalion SM Roy R’Jeen.

Incumbent East Khasi Hills SP AR Mawthoh would take over as the commandant of the 1st MLP Battalion.

The present commandant of the MLP 1st Battalion MK Dkhar will be the SP of the newly created district East Jaintia Hills with its headquarter at Khliehriat.

The MLP 5th Battalion commandant Ricky Dkhar would take over as SSP Special Branch (I) while incumbent Sylvester Nongtynger would take over as the SP of the new district — South West Khasi Hills with its headquarter at Mawkyrwat.

Meanwhile, acting South Garo Hills SP DNR Marak has been appointed as the full fledged SP of the district.

Present West Garo Hills SP Aditya Goenka would take over as the SP of the newly created district North Garo Hills with its headquarter at Resulbelpara.

Meanwhile, Darwin Sangma has been appointed as AIG (E) while deputy commandant 5th Battalion SJ Momin replaced Ricky Dkhar as the commandant of the 5th Battalion. The 2nd MLP Battalion commandant Nikhil Sangma would take over as the SP of South West Garo Hills.

Mary GT Sangma, the deputy commandant 5th Battalion, is now the additional SP of South West Garo Hills.
