TURA: A nocturnal slow loris primate rescued this week near the Tura circuit house is being cared for by state wildlife teams in the Garo Hills. The primate fell and injured itself after touching a live wire from a electrical post near the circuit house.

According to wildlife officials, the animal has been responding well to treatment and once nursed back to health would be released back to the jungles, far from human habitation.

Ever since the lock-down effect gained ground in the region due to the corona pandemic, a number of wild animals and birds have been spotted venturing close to human habitation.
On Friday a group of ladies returning from an evening jogging session came across a leopard cat that had been run over and killed in the heart of Tura town. The carcass was found near AOC petrol station in Hawakhana and later handed over to the wildlife department.
