TURA:  After an FIR was filed by the BDO of Demdema Block under Phulbari region against a VEC secretary from Asikandi village for withdrawing wage money under multiple names of job card holders who had already passed away, the children of the deceased whose names were being misused have come together to file a police complaint themselves.

Asikandi village has four Village Employment Councils (VECs)- Asikandi-I, Asikandi-II, Asikandi-III and Asikandi-IV. Earlier the FIR was filed by the block official against VEC Secretary of Asikandi-I, Mozidur Rahman.

The fresh FIR against Rahman was filed with the officer in charge of the Phulbari police station by Unus Ali and Abdul Bakkit for allegedly misusing their deceased fathers’ names namely- Mizal Hoque Munshi and Ashraf Ali.

Interestingly two separate FIRs were also filed against another VEC secretary from the Same Village, Rofikul Islam. Rofikul Islam happens to be the VEC Secretary of Asikandi-IV and the FIRs were filed against him by Azial Hoque and Salim S K.

According to the FIR, Islam had drawn wage money by misusing the names of Abdul Ohed and Asia Bibi (father and mother of Azial Hoque) and Abdus Sobur (father of Salim S K), all of whom were deceased.
