New Delhi: The all important meeting of the North East Congress Coordination Committee (NECCC) to be held in September will focus on connectivity which the region is badly lacking.

Several top leaders from the region feel that connectivity in the landlocked NE in land, water and air should be increased with the current demand. The Union Minister of State for Water Resources and Minority Affairs Vincent Pala, who hosted a meeting of the NECCC recently, said there should be a complete relook on the issue of connectivity.

“The connectivity should not only be improved within the region and with the mainland but also with neighbouring country like Myanmar, Bangladesh,” Pala said adding “only this can put the Look East policy in its proper perspective”.

Dimapur will host the next meeting of the NECCC. The committee has requested Congress president Sonia Gandhi to attend the September meeting.
