Meghalaya’s last COVID-19 patient recovers

SHILLONG: In a major relief for the state which has been battling covid-19 since last two months, the state finally does not have  a single active case of the deadly virus after the last patient was declared recovered on Monday

The last patient was  tested negative again for the second time meaning that she has fully recovered from the disease.

Speaking to newsmen, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said that so far,  3207  samples have been collected and sent for samples while  2883 of the samples were tested negative.

The State at the moment is awaiting the results of  311 samples while 12 patients who were infected with COVID-19 have fully recovered.

The state as of now has seen death of one person who was infected with the virus.

Meanwhile, Tynsong also said that till Monday, 6565  natives of Meghalaya who were stranded in different parts of the state, have returned to the state.

Thanking the frontline workers who have worked tirelessly in receiving the  stranded  citizens back to the state, the Deputy Chief Minister also informed that as of now there are not less than  7000 COVID committees who are working in different localities in urban and rural areas of the state.
