SHILLONG: Phulbari MLA, S G Esmatur Mominin has called for intensified health screening all along the inter-state boundary with Assam since the neighbouring state is witnessing a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases.

Speaking to newsmen here on Tuesday, SG Esmatur Mominin said that the plain belt area of Garo Hills especially Phulbari shares a long inter-state boundary with Assam but fortunately, the area till date does not have even a single COVID positive case.

Informing that the Health teams are conducting screening and checking at different entry points like Tikrikilla, Haldiaganj and South Salmanpara, he however asked the State Government to be stringent with medical screening for those who are returning to the state.

“There should be further stringent measures even though the Government is taking keen interest in conducing checkings,” he said.
