KSU asks MeECL to replace damaged transformers

SHILLONG: The KSU Umdohlun Circle has written to the Chief Engineer (Distribution), Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited to rectify damaged transformers leaving two villages in SWKH without power supply. ) In the letter, the union said that the villages of Mawphansaw and Nongmluh of South West Khasi Hills district are currently without power for over 6 and 5 months respectively.
The union informed that the transformer at Mawphansaw village was damaged since November 2019 while that of Nongmluh village in December 2019.
The union informed that the subordinate authority at Mawkyrwat told the union that the transformer meant for Mawphansaw village has reached Mawkyrwat whereas no steps were taken to rectify it in time.
“The irresponsible act of your office in not replacing the two damaged transformers has caused numerous problems in the past few months to the residents”, the KSU said.
In this connection, the union urged the MeECL to immediately replace the damaged transformer.
