Sonowal takes stock of COVID-19 protocols put in place in LGBI airport

GUWAHATI: Passengers arriving in Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi Airport (LGBI) here have  to register themselves before they are screened by the medical teams posted in the airport as per COVID-19 protocol.

As many as 38 passenger aircrafts carrying 3421 passengers from outside have arrived in the airport since May 25 when Government of India resumed air passenger services in the country amid COBOD-19 lockdown 0.4. Moreover, 1190 people have flown out of the state since then.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday took stock of the facilities and medical screening procedure followed in the LGBI airport in tune with COVID-19 protocols.

Saying that the state government was taking all measures to ensure that the travellers do not have to face any difficulties, Sonowal appreciated the roles played by health, transport, police, tax, excise departments etc. in close coordination with Airports Authority of India and CISF for facilitating smooth movement of people. He also praised the service rendered by drivers and staffs of ASTC buses and thanked the people of the state for staying united in this fight against COVID-19.

Assam starts pumpkin export to Dubai

Good news for pumpkin farmers in Assam as the first consignment of pumpkin produced by them was exported to Dubai from Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International (LGBI) airport here on Thursday.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal along with Agriculture Minister, Atul Bora and Industries and Commerce Minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary flagged off the first cargo flight carrying the load of pumpkin produced in the state to Dubari.
