SWGH, EJH allow more shops to function

AMPATI/KHLIEHRIAT: The District Magistrates of South West Garo Hills and East Jaintia Hills District have allowed more shops to function in the wake of state government giving the green light on Wednesday.
In SWGH, the District Magistrate allowed opening of shops dealing in products and clothes for new-born babies, textiles and ready-made
garments, kitchen utensils, household electronics, automobile showrooms, kitchen appliances repair services and travel agencies.
“The activities will be permitted from 7am to 1pm and all shops shall operate from fixed premises,” a statement on Thursday said.
In East Jaintia Hills, the District Magistrate has also allowed the above-mentioned shops to function but, at the same time, directing only shops operating from fixed premises to open.
Asking the general public to strictly adhere to the protocols by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the EJH Deputy Commissioner has also directed shopkeepers to not sell beyond the MRP.
The EJH DC has also directed villages in the district to coordinate with Police and VDP to ensure there is no violation of the protocols.
