TURA: The West Garo Hills District Administration on Tuesday issued health protocols for all shopkeepers in the district to follow in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The protocol makes it mandatory for all shop owners including staff to wear masks in a correct manner, follow social distancing and ensuring that all customers who come to their shops follow the same guidelines.

While these guidelines are to be followed by all shops in general, additional protocol to be followed by shopkeepers of medium and large size standalone shops has also been issued.

The additional protocol makes it mandatory for such standalone shops to provide hand sanitizers at the entrance, maintenance of 1-2 metres between customers and staff inside the shop, to ensure that not more than five persons enter the shop, sanitization of hands by customers before touching items that need to be checked (e.g. optical frames in optical shops which also needs to be disinfected after each touching by customers before they are placed back) and frequent sanitization of shops especially points that frequently come into people’s contact like door knobs etc.
