GUWAHATI: Thirteen more returnees, seven male and six female, have tested COVID-19 positive in Manipur, taking the total number of positive cases to 102.
Eleven persons tested positive at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) while two have tested positive at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).
Four persons from Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Tamenglong districts are returnees from Chennai, three from Senapati district are returnees from Mumbai while four persons from Tengnoupal district are returnees from Delhi.
“They have been shifted to the COVID care facilities at RIMs and JNIMS. Their condition is stable. All necessary precautionary measures such as containment and contact tracing are now in place,” additional director and spokesperson for Manipur health department, Khoirom S Mangang, informed in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, 12 patients were discharged from RIMS on Tuesday evening after they were found COVID-19 negative on two consecutive RT-PCR tests at RIMS. The total number of recovered patients has increased to 26 and the recovery rate has improved to 25.49 per cent.
The tally of active cases in the state now stands at76.
Nagaland tally 58
Nine more returnees from Chennai tested COVID-19 positive in Nagaland out of the 115 samples tested, state health minister S. Pangnyu Phom informed through Twitter on Wednesday.
With the latest cases, the state now has 58 active cases and all are returnees from Chennai.
Prior to May 25, 2020, Nagaland did not officially have a single COVID-19 case. However, as trains from Chennai started bringing stranded citizens since May 25, the state witnessed a considerable increase in COVID-19 positive cases.
