KHADC plans fisheries, IT depts revamp

SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) plans to revamp its fisheries department by making it more commercial.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, KHADC CEM Titos Chyne said the fish ponds at Lai Lad were reduced to a picnic spot and catered to the recreational activities of the council members. He said a detailed project report would be prepared by the Executive Member in-charge.
Besides, Chyne informed that the district council courts will use online services and video conferencing and that people can also visit the website of the district council court.
The CEM informed that there will be online payment of professional tax and the executive committee is making an effort to strengthen the Information & Technology department so that it is easily accessible.
The KHADC has also revised cent per cent the NOC for forest clearance rate “as per the needs of time”.
As for the markets of the KHADC, Chyne said the Executive Member in-charge of Market made a proposal to strengthen council markets in Byrnihat and Laitlyngkot. There was a proposal to expand the market in Byrnihat and probably make it a market complex.
