SHILLONG: Independent MLA from Nongkrem and chairman of Meghalaya State Planning Board Lambor Malngiang has advised legislators to take care of the shortcomings arising out of the COVID-19 situation instead of blaming the government for it.
After providing electricity to the quarantine centres under his constituency, Malngiang said that unlike others, he is not going to blame the government.
Talking to media persons here, he said that there are eight community quarantine centres and some did not have electricity. “With the population and increase in cases, government will not be in a position to do everything and if we, MLAs, take necessary calls, the problem of the government would ease a lot,” he said, adding that the chief minister has done a lot during the crisis.
Stating that earlier there was shortage of PPE, hand sanitisers in the quarantine centres, he said he has arranged everything at his own level.
He also said that the community quarantine centres under his constituency so far have not received the assistance of Rs 5,000 from the chief minister, adding that he has written to Conrad Sangma in this regard.
