Screening at Ri Bhoi must for taxis

Nongpoh: The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi, RM Kurbah in an order issued on Thursday has prohibited all local taxis, auto rickshaws and tourist taxis from evading the designated Screening Checkpoint at 13th Mile, Byrnihat while ferrying passengers.
The order was issued following information that public transport drivers are ferrying passengers by diverting through different routes in the district to avoid the designated checkpoint and this is posing a threat to the public and the State.
Violators will be prosecuted under the relevant sections of law while driving licenses and vehicles documents of the violators will be seized by authorities when caught, said the order.
