Over 2000 arrive in Assam from Kerala by 2 trains

GUWAHATI: Trains loaded with stranded state residents have started trickling into the state from faraway Kerala. Two such trains with about 2000 returnees have arrived in the state.

The health authorities have made arrangements for screening of the passengers of these trains in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The passengers are being sent to their respective districts by the authorities.

Seventeen such trains with stranded state residents are coming to the state from Kerala within seven days carrying about 25,000 people triggering apprehension of further spike in COVID-19 positive cases in the state. Most of the COVID-19 positive cases detected in the state so far from among such returnees.
