KHLIEHRIAT: East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner has directed the relief workers to undergo police verification prior to getting indulged in relief works. “In view of the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the country, there have been cases where imposters/frauds imposed themselves as religious heads/leaders expressing their willingness to financially help any religious groups/establishment/NGOs etc., working for the relief of COVID-19 victims but instead of helping, they trick others by siphoning off money from them,” a statement on Tuesday said.
“Therefore, all public are warned to verify any persons who they are sending online for relief works,” the statement added.
