GUWAHATI: The Kamrup Chamber of Commerce (KCC) has issued a circular requesting traders, transporters and members to restrict daily business hours from 9am till 5pm up to June 30, in view of the abrupt spike in COVID-19 positive cases in the city.

In a statement issued here, the trade chamber said that it has also issued a set of guidelines to the traders asking them to strictly abide by the Assam government’s safety protocols to prevent further spread of the virus.

“Business establishments are to open from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday while Sunday should be observed as fully closed. Customers should be allowed entry in a controlled manner and they will have to wear proper masks and maintain social distance while establishments must ensure that thermal scanners and hand sanitisers are in place and markings made for social distancing on its premises,” the statement by KCC, said.

The trade chamber directed business establishments to allow marketing executives and others who promote products to only do so over phone calls or video conferencing thus reducing visits.

It further urged members to strictly maintain distance from drivers, handymen and labourers who come from outside the state and visit shops and godowns here.
