SHILLONG: A team of Kench’s Trace Beat House policemen led by DSP DK Prasad cracked down on the sale of illicit liquor from an area in Lower Kench’s Trace
The area near the Territorial Army gate was becoming a liquor den, which was visited by the people from all parts of the city.
With the dorbar approaching the police after receiving several complaints from the residents, the team started conducting raids every day and recovered huge quantity of illicit liquor and Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL).
During the raids, police recovered 52,380 ml of IMFL and 800 litres of country-made liquor from two houses.
Police said that the area is completely free from the menace of sale of illicit liquor as of now.
The Rangbah Shnong of Bishnupur said the crackdown like this will sustain to keep the area completely free from such illegal activities.
Volunteers of Seng Samla have been asked to keep an eye and ensure that no such illegal activities take place in the area.
DSP DK Prasad has been instrumental in solving similar problems which were faced by the residents of Keating Road few years ago.
The residents were grateful to the police for prompt action.
