Review meet on health of pregnant women

NONGSTOIN: Commissioner and Secretary, Health department, P Sampath Kumar, on Monday, discussed the achievement and programmes implemented with regard to improving the health status of pregnant women and reducing the mortality rate at the DC Office’s conference hall in West Khasi Hills.
Ram Kumar S, Mission Director, NHM, also attended the meet along with the Deputy Commissioner, T Lyngwa, and other district officials.
Sampath Kumar pointed out that the new born child was deprived of the required medication as rural folks preferred delivery of the baby at home.
He urged the local authorities to spread awareness and counselling sessions for both women and men.
