Council passed resolution on 8th Schedule: Chyne

SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) CEM Titos Chyne on Friday said that the Council had passed a resolution on the Eighth Schedule.
Replying to a discussion on the budget on the last day of the session, he also assured that Khasi Authors Society will also come up with a Khasi Dictionary.
Chyne also said that the Council will seek financial assistance from the NEC, adding that the tourist spots that were created will also generate revenue for the Council.
The KHADC CEM added that the District Council also intends to hold the Monolith Festival again but said that the Council’s fund will not be utilised for the project.
On the other hand, he also said that the Executive Committee will strengthen the judicial wing of the KHADC and will percolate down to the grassroots such as to the village courts, additional sub-ordinate courts district council court.
He also assured of the District Council setting up a Police Outpost at Langpih, but said it is on the part of the state government to ensure there are police personnel in place. Chyne also ensured of a special committee to frame service rules.

Chyne said the Executive Committee has ordered the acting Wahadadar of Shella Confederacy to submit the list of voters in one month to hold fresh election to elect a full-fledged Wahadadar.
