SHILLONG: Social Welfare Department’s Joint Secretary, C Kharkongor has been given the temporary charge as the chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. Social Welfare Minister, Kyrmen Shylla, said that Kharkongor has been appointed as the temporary chairperson of the SCPCR for a period of 6 months as some programmes needed to be completed. The minister said that in the meantime, the department would soon appoint a permanent chairperson.
