SHILLONG: Calling for the customary boycott of Independence Day celebrations, as many as seven militant outfits of North-East, including HNLC, have called a ‘total strike’ on August 15.

In a joint emailed statement to media, the outfits said the ‘boycott’ has been called against ‘Indian colonial occupation and military repression’.

The general strike will be effective from 1am to 5.30 pm on August 15. Essential services, however, exempted from the purview of the strike.
