Metbah inaugurates springsheds in WKH

NONGSTOIN: Assembly Speaker and Mairang MLA, Metbah Lyngdoh, on Friday, inaugurated two springshed based watershed development projects at Mairangbah and Pyndengumiong villages.
The Pyndenumiong project costs Rs 43.5 lakh while the project at Mairangbah village is worth Rs 19.5 lakh.
They are funded by National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD) and implemented by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) West Khasi Hills.
Utpal Bezbaruah, District Development Manager, NABARD, West Khasi Hills, said that the projects are aimed at reviving the dying springs and preserve the others. West Khasi Hills is the first to receive the two projects under the programme. The Mairangbah Springshed project is the first project to be sanctioned in the state while the Pyndengumiong project is the second, Bezbaruah said.
Metbah also planted trees at Tirot Sing Park, Mairangbah. Others who were present include Batskhem Ryntathiang, Mairang-Nongkhlaw MDC, A Nongbri, SDO (Civil), Mairang Sub-Division and V Swer, BDO, Mairang C&RD Block.
