DC stops payment to VECs under inquiry

TURA: In view of allegations of various anomalies taking place in VECs under different blocks in West Garo Hills, Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh has issued an order directing BDOs concerned to put on hold payments to such VECs until further orders.

Earlier on several occasions, complaints were raised by job card holders alleging misappropriation of funds in the names of duplicate job card holders and other anomalies in the different VECs. Some of the VECs which are currently under investigation include those at Shialkandi, Moulakandi, Asikandi, Solaertek, Namaburijhar under Demdema and Magurmari and New Bhaitbari under Selsella Block.

The order by the Deputy Commissioner was issued on July 10.
