SHILLONG: The Synjuk ki Nongsynshar Shnong ka Bri U Hynniewtrep has urged Director of NEIGRIHMS to designate a quarantine facility for the staff who are the primary contacts of the BSF personnel who had tested positive for COVID-19 last week.
The BSF personnel was admitted in the Orthopaedics ward of the hospital, following which he had developed fever. It was only after this that he underwent a test and was found positive for COVID-19.
In a letter to the NEIGRIHMS Director, the secretary of the Synjuk, RL Blah, said the move is imperative as many cannot afford the luxury of a suitable home quarantine facility, especially when they have been living in rented houses with shared toilets and constrained space.
“The grim situation also demands that the hospital authority remains prepared for any further escalation in COVID-19 cases,” he said.
With regard to the admission of new patients from other states to any ward in the hospital, Synjuk suggested mandatory isolation for them irrespective of their backgrounds.
The Synjuk also congratulated the Dorbar Shnong of Mawkasiang, the district and NEIGHRIMS for being quick to react after the rise in COVID cases in the state.
The Mawkasiang Dorbar Shnong had rented three guest houses in the area at their own expenses in order to accommodate the 47 employees from NEIGHRIMS, who are the residents of Mawkasiang, and who were asked by the hospital authority to undergo home quarantine.
“The act of Mawkasiang Dorbar Shnong not only brings laurel to the entire institution of the Dorbar Shnong but also motivates us all to work endlessly for the interest of humanity,” Blah said.
