Shillong: The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) on Thursday demanded a clarification from the transport department on the prevailing working conditions at the office of the District Transport Officer (DTO) alleging the lack of manpower in the office leading to incompletion of works and over burden on the available staffs.

The HNYF who recently conducted an inspection at the DTO office mentioned that the said office is under staffed while pointing out that there are four posts still lying vacant since February this year.

The union has mentioned that the staffs who retired from the post of LDA, UDA and HA of this office dated back to February, May and July this year. Stating this nature of work as a burden for the staffs of DTO, the HNYF had mentioned that the negligence of the transports department resulted in the current situation of the office being under staffed. In this connection, the HNYF has sought a clarification from the department on the reasons behind the delay while asking the department to call an advertisement for the above posts officially through the MPSC for deserving candidates.
