GUWAHATI: Meghalaya government has decided to close all entry points of the state at Byrnihat, Ratacherra, Bajengdoba, Tikrikilla, Mirijumla &Hallidayganj from July 24 to 31 in order to provide some relief from workload and much-needed breathing space for the government staff engaged in those entry points under the trying times of COVID-19 pandemic.
The entry points will reopen on August 1 while the entry point at Byrnihat will be shifted to a new location.
“To unburden our health, frontline workers & District Administration engaged in intensive surveillance for the past four months, Govt. has decided to close all entry points of the State (Byrnihat, Ratacherra, Bajengdoba, Tikrikilla, Mirjumla & Hallidayganj) from 24th-31st July, 2020.
“Only emergency, medical services, essential commodities & transit movement of #Assam vehicles will be allowed. This period will be used to shift the entry point of Byrnihat to a new location for smooth movement of people & vehicles. Entry points to reopen from 1st Aug, 2020,” tweeted the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
