SHILLONG: Shella Dorbar Shnong has expressed opposition to BSF personnel visiting the Shella Market as majority of the COVID-19 infections in the state are reported from the Border Security Force (BSF) Umpling camp here.
The Dorbar Shnong, in a letter to the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Sohra Civil Sub-Division, sought a halt in the BSF personnel visiting the market for any purposes alleging that they flout health protocols by not wearing masks while visiting the village.
In the letter, secretary of the Dorbar Shnong, Roy Kupar Synrem, stated that the SDO should issue directions to the BSF personnel posted within the jurisdiction of Shella Dorbar to follow protocols and restrict their movement for the time being. The BSF guards the border with 6 to 7 camps located within the jurisdiction of the Dorbar.
Synrem suggested that the SDO could urge the state government to keep on hold the movement of BSF personnel in and out of the sub-division for the time being in view of the pandemic.
