Relaxations allowed for unlock of Guwahati from Monday

GUWAHATI:  Wearing facemask in public has been made mandatory even as Assam Chief Secretary, Kumar Sanjay Krishna on Saturday declared  relaxations to unlock Kamrup Metropolitan district including Guwahati city from Monday.

The district including Guwahati city has been under lockdown for 21 days since morning of June 29 last because of spike in COVID-19 positive cases.

“The Unlock relaxations are aimed at allowing economic activities for the relief people in general,” the Chief Secretary said adding that if anyone found not wearing facemask in public Rs 1000 fine will be imposed on the spot.

Unlock relaxations effective from 7 PM of June 19 to 7 PM of August 2:

  1. All sorts of shops will be allowed to open from Monday to Friday only one side of the road on alternate days as decided by the Deputy Commissioner.
  2. All essential commodities’ wholesale and retail shops will open from Monday to Friday.
  3. All wholesalers of vegetables, fruits, fishes, meat etc., will do business from Monday to Friday.
  4. Couriers, e-commerce activities allowed from Monday to Friday.
  5. Industries and construction activities are allowed provided the workforce stays inside the campus.
  6. Milk, milk products, baby food items can be traded every day of the week.
  7. Home delivery of cooked food is allowed.
  8. Wholesale and retail dealers in medicines will do business every day and they can operate on both sides of a road simultaneously.
  9. Wholesale and retail business of animal feed, veterinary medicines, livestock medicines are allowed from Monday to Friday.
  10. Rickshaws, auto-rickshaws and cab services are allowed on condition that they will have to sanitise the vehicle in front of the passenger before every ride.
  • Saloons, beauty parlours will be allowed to open only for hair cutting.
  1. All government (both central and state) offices, private offices, banks, business establishments will be allowed to operate from Monday to Friday with only 30 per cent staff.
  2. Plumbers, electricians, A/C mechanics are allowed to operate on call.

Unlock restrictions:

  1. All private vehicles both four wheelers and two wheelers, are not allowed on the road except for emergency services and office duty.
  2. Night curfew will remain enforced during 6 PM to 6 AM
  3. Total lockdown continues on Saturdays and Sundays.
  4. Complete ban on Inter-district travel from Wednesday (July 22)
