SHILLONG: The Rangbah Shnong of Laitumkhrah Dorbar Shnong Pyllun, SB Nongdhar, on behalf of the Dorbar, has condoled the demise of former Rangbah Shnong of the Dorbar, Thomas Patrick Nongrum, fondly known as Bah Patrick, on Thursday.
Patrick served the people of Laitumkhrah as the Rangbah Shnong from 1986 onwards. He was also the chairman of the Dorbar between 2006 and 2010, and continued up to 2017 following which he had to forego his service to the people due to his illness.
“His demise has caused an irreparable loss not only to his family, but to the people of Boyce Road and Lower New Colony area, where also he stayed, and the entire people of Laitumkhrah. Bah Patrick was known for his soft spoken nature and was loved by all residents”, Nongdhar said in a statement.
His love for sports
Apart from being an administrator, Thomas Patrick Nongrum was the only Hockey coach in Meghalaya; and even till date is. Thus, one cannot deny the fact that the man also had a soft spot for sports in his heart.
Nongrum, who was also the first president of the Meghalaya State Hockey Association (MSHA), persuaded the youths of the state to join the game by conducting various coaching camps.
The working president of Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA), John F Kharshiing, expressed grief over the passing away of Patrick while extending deepest condolences to his family.
“The MSOA cannot forget his (Patrick) noble contribution and our long association with him in sports and in a number of community-related works in the society, especially in uplifting the youth in sports as well as the general people”, Kharshiing said in a statement issued here.
Bah Patrick has been adviser to the MSOA from August 2011 till the time of his death.
