Kharlukhi elected as parl panel member

NEW DELHI: Vice President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha M. Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday nominated Wanwei Roy Kharlukhi, to the Standing Committee on Rural Development.
Kharlukhi, president of the ruling NPP in the state, will formally take charge as member of the committee once he takes oath as an MP in the House during the next session. He is one of the few members who is yet to take the oath though his tenure started from June 22.
The other MP from Tura Lok Sabha seat Agatha Sangma, was earlier nominated as member of the Standing Committee on Water Resources. Agatha is also a member of the Consultative Committee of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
The lone Congress MP from Shillong Vincent H Pala is in the standing Committee on Law, Justice and Public Grievances. He is also a member of the Consultative Committee,DoNER and Committee of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).
