SHILLONG: BJP state president, Ernest Mawrie has written to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma requesting him to include the poor families who have been left out of the purview of National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA).
In the letter, Mawrie blamed the inefficiency of the subsequent state governments in making the list of beneficiaries for Central schemes.
‘Instead of trying to pass the blame on the Central government for keeping the non-ration card holders outside the extended PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna, the state government should accept that issuing ration cards is the responsibility of the state,’ he said.
Mawrie requested the chief minister to ‘accept our own inadequacies in including the poor and deserving people under NFSA and to work urgently towards righting the wrong’.
