Avril Lavigne has
well and truly
moved on.
Not only has news emerged that she is dating Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger – but her representative has confirmed that the pair are now engaged following a six-month romance.
The insider told People: ‘A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together.’
Unfortunately for Brody, the shock news also just so happens to fall on his 29th birthday.
Despite the ten year age, it seems the couple have found love after uniting in February to co-write a song for Avril’s upcoming fifth studio album – the follow up to 2011’s Goodbye Lullaby.
The duo appear to have confirmed the news themselves on Twitter, with Nickelback initially penning a message, saying: ‘Congratulations Avril and Chad! Get all the details from @PeopleMag’.
Avril, 27, then retweeted the message to her six million followers online.
She has since gone on to retweet a series of congratulatory messages from friends and fans.
The source told People: ‘He makes her so happy. Both of their families could not be more excited.’
Chad, 37, is believed to popped the question on August 8, with a 14-carat diamond rock.
While she is the younger of the two, it will actually be the second marriage for Grammy-nominee Avril.
In July 2006, at the tender age of 21, she wed Sum 41 rocker Deryck Whibley in a fairytale wedding.
However, it was not to be and she filed for divorce a little more than three years later.
She then moved on to Kim Kardashian’s stepbrother Brody – even getting a tattoo of his name beneath her right breast – before they split in January after nearly two years together.
Meanwhile, Chad spent six years with former common law wife Marianne Goriuk.
Amusingly, Maroon 5 star and The Voice judge Adam Levine seems to have been caught up in the commotion due to sharing a similar name with Avril.
He tweeted: ‘Just to clear up the confusion, I am NOT engaged to Chad Kroeger of Nickleback (sic).’ (Agencies)
