Conrad directs PWD to expedite PMGSY works

SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday directed PWD officials to expedite the implementation of the PMGSY works in the state that have been halted in view of the pandemic.
Conrad directed the officials after reviewing the implementation of the PMGSY works in the state with officials of the PWD and the deputy commissioners.
He also instructed the department and the DCs to monitor the implementation works at the micro-level and ensure completion of works within the scheduled dates.
Conrad also directed them to submit progress reports of the projects on a weekly basis to the ()government for effective monitoring of the scheme.
Out of 971 sanctioned schemes covering a total length of 4303.70 l km, 414 schemes covering a total length of 1353.12 km have been completed while 528 schemes covering a total length of 2849.98 km are under progress.
The chief minister informed that the online monitoring mechanism at the Chief Minister’s Office is also ready and the department should feed information, wherein details of the schemes, status of the works, names and contact number of officials and contractors etc should be made available for effective monitoring of the implementation.
“Additional projects under PMGSY will be taken up as we complete the ongoing works,” Sangma said.
