SHILLONG: Holders Royal Wahingdoh FC entered the final of the Shillong Premier League defeating Langsning FC 2-0 on Thursday at JN stadium, here.

Royal Wahingdoh FC will now take on Rangdajied United FC in the final to be played on Saturday.

Wahingdoh’s Kareem and Algan guarded their defence from Langsning’s dangerous duo — Daniel Bedemi and Joel Ayeni. Both failed to produce anything spectacular.

Man-of-the-match Beekay played the crucial role in Royal Wahingdoh FC’s win, as he sealed the match in the 86th minute with a beautiful low right-footer after baffling Langsning defenders.

Earlier, Laldinmawia opened the Royals’ score-sheet. Finding an opening in the rather ordinary-looking Langsning defence, Laldinmawia did not waste much time in making the scoreline 1-0. Langsning missed its stopper Malsawma Chhangte, who was suspended in an elimination-round match.

Mawia handled the midfield impressively along with Kima.

Langsning custodian Thungshang Tharngachan’s a brilliant save denied Wahingdoh another goal in the tenth minute. In the 21st minute, Kareem sent a powerful right-footer which missed the target by a whisker.

Langsning wasted several golden opportunities to score. Joel Ayeni’s long ranger sailed over the crossbar and again in the 51st minute his shot bounced off the crossbar.
