SHILLONG: The HYC has alleged that the state government is recruiting Child Development Project Officers (CDPO) violating central norms.
The HYC president, Robertjune Kharjahrin, petitioned Social Welfare Minister Kyrmen Shylla to keep in abeyance the decision to directly recruit CDPOs as it violates central government norms.
According to Kharjahrin, the Centre, through the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Women and Child Development, in a letter on May 20, 1986 had directed all states and UTs to frame rules for appointments to the posts of CDPOs and supervisors of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) projects. Under this rule, 75 per cent CDPOs are to be recruited through promotion among supervisors and the rest through direct recruitment. “Even after 34 years of the said direction from the Central government, the state government hasn’t framed rules and regulation for the recruitment of supervisors,” the HYC informed Shylla. Kharjharin said the state must first “frame the service rules for the recruitment of the supervisors and AWWs as early as possible following the guidelines provided by the Ministry concerned of the Central government.”
“Provide recruitment to the post of CDPOs from among the supervisors as per directives of the Central government,” he demanded. ( With UNI inputs)
