Sree Narayana Guru Cultural Centre (SNGCC), Shillong will unfurl the National flag at Oneness Centre on the premises of M/s Taste Complex, Jingkieng to commemorate the 74th Independence Day of Republic of India at 10 am on Saturday. The hoisting of the National Flag will be followed by a general body meeting of SNGCC. The organisation will also elect new office bearers.

Dry day
Dry day has been declared in two districts of the state on account of the Independence Day. The deputy commissioners of Ri Bhoi and North Garo Hills have issued orders stating that all IMFL retail shops, bars in hotels, bonded warehouses, bottling units, breweries, distilleries, country-made spirit shops, outstills, canteens etc will remain closed on August 15.
