SHILLONG: Congress MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh is irked that the state government did not keep the legislators in the loop in its fight against the COVID-19 in their respective constituencies. Echoing the same tune as BJP MLA Sanbor Shullai had raised recently, Lyngdoh felt that in the constituencies where containment zones were notified, the local MLAs should have been consulted by the government for more effective tackling of COVID-19.
Elaborating she said that there are many hotspots in her locality and people were stressed as tests and results were taking too long and the period of waiting is a big torment. She said that the other error is the containment of large areas as the government was only attending to the primary contacts of positive patients whereas the others were left unattended. She felt that these were the areas the government should have work on.
Expressing concern over the poor connectivity, he said that many students in the state are out of curriculum due to the poor connectivity in the state even as she is irked by the fact the government has not come forward to help those students who are under quarantine in a hotspot city like Delhi where Delhi University has announced online examinations.
Questioning the government over hospitals in the city becoming hotspot zones, she asked if the government is downplaying the situation by allowing gyms and aerobic centres to re-open.
“Too many bloopers have occurred and we cannot ignore this”, she said while adding that the government till date had not released the MLA Funds for 2020.
