NONGSTOIN: Two Congress ticket aspirants from Mawshynrut Assembly constituency Methodius Dkhar and Srally Rashir have decided to work together for the party ahead of the 2013 polls in the state.

The move is also seen by political experts as an attempt to thwart the candidature of State Mahila Congress secretary Pelcy Snaitang, who is the third ticket aspirant from the constituency.

The decision was taken in a meeting organized by the Mawshynrut Block Congress Committee (MBCC) at Proin near Porla (37 Km from Nongstoin). All the party workers along with the President of the MBCC Robert Dkhar, Methodius Dkhar and

ex-MDC of Mawshynrut Srally Rashir attended the meet.

Addressing the gathering, MBCC president claimed that Pelcy Snaitiang is nowhere in the race for the Congress ticket from the constituency adding that only a local of the area would be allowed to contest in the upcoming elections.

“The MBCC was responsible for two consecutive victories in the preceding Assembly elections here and we do not want to ruin the victory stint by allowing an outsider to contest for m the constituency,” the MBCC president added.

Earlier, the MBCC had warned the lone woman ticket aspirant Pelcy Snaitang not to create division in the Block Committee.

The meeting, attended by party supporters from more than 20 villages of the constituency, was aimed at garnering support ahead of the polls.

Meanwhile, addressing the gathering, Methodius Dkhar stressed on the need for all round development of the constituency which has been neglected since statehood.

.Dkhar also said that the main aim of the meeting was to strengthen and unite the party.

“The party is as united and strong as ever. There is no split in the offing and people should discard such claims,” he said.

Srally Rashir also spoke on the occasion.
