TURA: The Garo Graduates’ Union (GGU) along with the A’chik Literature Society (ALS) and senior citizens of Tura on Thursday condemned the de-recognition of the College of Teacher Education (CTE), Rongkhon by the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE).

A meeting with regard to the issue was held on the same day where they unanimously expressed condemnation towards the move by the NCTE to withdraw its recognition of the only government institution for teacher education in the region.

“The College of Teacher Education (CTE) at Rongkhon has been serving not only Garo Hills but the entire state since 1997 and the move to de-recognize it is a shame. We strongly condemn it,” the GGU said, and informed that they would approach the state government on the matter of restoring recognition to the institution.
