Dawki market to reopen from Wednesday

JOWAI: The Lamin Dorbar under Amlarem Sub-Division in West Jaintia Hills has decided to reopen Dawki Market after a COVID-19-instigated hiatus.
It may be mentioned that the market happens to be one of the popular markets under Amlarem Sub-Division.
“The Dorbar Shnong, Lamin, has been managing and maintaining the market from time immemorial and we have decided to reopen the market with strict vigilance on adherence to COVID-19 protocols,” the headman, Golden Gashnga, informed The Shillong Times.
Stating that the initiative to reopen the market was taken along with the Sub-Divisional Officer, Amlarem, Gashnga added that a market committee has also been constituted to check proper implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the state government.
Gashnga also said that on Saturday, hundreds of locals took part in a cleaning drive in and around the market place.
